Principal's Message

JUNE

As we near the month of May, there is a lot to reflect on. Grade 2 and 4 swimming lessons concluded this month. Our students were good listeners, coachable, and improved in their swimming skills! Our Grade 6-8 students attended the annual Youth Wellness Conference, where they got to join the other middle years students in the city for presentations from Frizbee Rob and Alison Springer. Thank you to the Kiwanis Club for sponsoring this event. My highlight this month was our Spring Family Forum on May 21st. We had a large turnout of families on this rainy day for pizza and fun activities. If you were not in attendance and have not yet completed the online survey, please do so at your earliest convenience. Your feedback is very much appreciated! This month our Grade 7 students enjoyed a trip to Saskatoon, while our Grade 8 students travelled to Calgary, AB. Speaking of band, our band and choir students were among the 580 students that performed at SCCHS to celebrate Chinook’s 20th anniversary! Great job! SWAC track and field wrapped up this month, and our athletes got to compete in Gull Lake and at the SCCHS. Congratulations to all participants and a special shout out to our new champions, Cole MacIsaac and Khaizer Magtoto!

It is hard to believe that we are entering our last month of the school year! June will be bittersweet for me as it is such a fun month for students and staff, but also my last month as your principal! I will be sure to enjoy it! At the beginning of June our extracurricular Drama Club will be performing Alice in Wonderland. It’s sure to be another excellent performance! This month will include our school track & field meets with our Grade 6-8 meet at the SCCHS track on June 12th and our K-5 meet at Central School on June 20th. June 20th is also a special day as we will be having a FREE hotdog lunch for all students, staff, and families that attend. Finally, the month of June is quickly booking up with year end activities and field trips. We have students travelling all over the place to see and do some exciting things!
